π₯ Ingredients (tap to check off)
- 1 baguette French baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (mild or medium)
- 7 oz double cream Brie cheese, sliced
- 1 large large Bosc pear, cored & thinly sliced
- 0.5 cup cinnamon pear dark balsamic vinegar (or balsamic glaze)
- 0.33 cup fresh pomegranate seeds (arils)
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (for garnish)
π¨βπ³ Step-by-Step Instructions
Slice & Arrange Baguette
Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice the French baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices and arrange them evenly in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush with Olive Oil & Broil
Lightly brush the top of each baguette slice with mild or medium extra virgin olive oil. Place the sheet on the top rack of the oven and broil on HIGH for 2β3 minutes, or until just golden brown and crisp around the edges. Keep a close eye on the oven to prevent burning.
Add Brie & Pear, Then Bake
Remove the toasted crostini from the oven and set the oven to preheat to 425Β°F (220Β°C). Place 1β2 slices of double cream Brie on each crostini, then top each with a thin slice of Bosc pear. Transfer to the middle rack of the oven and bake for 10 minutes until the brie is luscious, melted, and bubbling.
Simmer Cinnamon Balsamic Reduction
In the meantime, add 1/2 cup of cinnamon pear dark balsamic vinegar to a small saucepan. Simmer over medium-low heat for 8β10 minutes until reduced by half into a thick, glossy syrup. Once removed from heat, the reduction will thicken further as it cools. (If it becomes too thick, stir in a teaspoon of balsamic to loosen).
Garnish, Drizzle & Serve Warm
Remove the warm crostini from the oven and arrange on a serving board. Garnish with ruby red pomegranate seeds and fresh rosemary leaves or thyme. Drizzle generously with the warm cinnamon balsamic reduction and serve immediately while warm!
βοΈ Storing & Reheating Leftovers
Refrigeration: Allow the dish to cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
Reheating: Reheat in a skillet over medium-low heat with a small splash of water or olive oil, or in a 350Β°F (175Β°C) oven until thoroughly warmed. This preserves the delicate moisture without drying out the texture.
π³ Recommended Kitchen Equipment
Kitchen Note: Having the right kitchen tools ensures foolproof results. We recommend items tested in our own home kitchen.
