🥗 Ingredients (tap to check off)
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup shredded white cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely minced
- 1 clove garlic, finely grated or minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
- 0.25 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 pinch (to taste) fine sea salt
- 10 crackers round butter crackers (such as Ritz)
- 10 slices slices pepperoni or small hard salami (halved & cut into horns)
- 10 whole green olives, pitted and sliced in half horizontally
- 1 slice firm white cheese (provolone, mozzarella, or cheddar) cut into sharp fang triangles
- 3 tbsp thick balsamic glaze (balsamic reduction) in squeeze bottle
👨🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
Mix the Cheese Base
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded white cheese, chopped chives, minced parsley, garlic, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Mix thoroughly with a spatula until smooth and evenly blended.
Shape and Chill
Scoop golf-ball-sized portions (about 1½ to 2 tablespoons each) and roll them gently between your palms into smooth balls. Place them on a parchment-lined plate or tray and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up slightly.
Base Assembly
Place one chilled cheese ball firmly onto the center of each round butter cracker.
Add the Monster Features
Eyes: Press two sliced green olive halves into the upper face. Mouth: Cut a pepperoni slice in half to form a crescent smile, then press it firmly into the lower face. Fangs: Tuck two small white cheese triangles under the top edge of the pepperoni mouth. Horns: Cut triangular points from pepperoni or fold pepperoni quarters into pointed horn shapes and push them into the top sides of the head.
Finishing Glaze & Hair
Using a fine-tip squeeze bottle of balsamic glaze, pipe small dots into the hollow olive centers to form pupils, then pipe zigzags across the top of the head for eyebrows and messy vampire hair.
Serve & Enjoy
Arrange on a wooden charcuterie board and serve immediately, or keep chilled in an airtight container until party time!
❄️ Storing & Reheating Leftovers
Refrigeration: Allow the dish to cool to room temperature, then store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
Reheating: Reheat in a skillet over medium-low heat with a small splash of water or olive oil, or in a 350°F (175°C) oven until thoroughly warmed. This preserves the delicate moisture without drying out the texture.
